Scope and Content This was likely prepared for Britton’s RIBA lecture delivered on the 12 January 1846. The note discusses the disparate influences on the design of the ornamental stonework in the interior of the chapel and suggests that the masons which worked on these designs may have been hired from abroad. Britton additionally notes the apocryphal story of the apprentice’s pillar.
