Scope and Content Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire Luftwaffe aerial photograph of Fraserburgh radio transmitter and harbour, taken during World War II. This harbour was home to a large fishing fleet, providing essential supplies to a nation at war. The radio transmitter to the south of the town was one of a chain along the Moray Firth and North Sea coast. The German Luftwaffe took aerial photographs of parts of Scotland throughout World War II. The photographs were used for intelligence work, such as selecting targets, assessing bombing accuracy and finding equipment and defensive positions. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
