Scope and Content Cromarty Court-house, Cromarty, Highland Cromarty Court-house was built in the late 18th century by George Ross, owner of Cromarty estate, to accommodate the county and burgh councils. The rear cell-block was added in the 1840s. The front of the court-house has hardly changed since it was built except that the Mercat Cross now stands at the base of the entrance tower.
