Scope and Content Document store, first floor, Cromarty Court-house, Cromarty, Highland Cromarty Court-house was built in the late 18th century by George Ross, owner of Cromarty estate, to accommodate the county and burgh councils. The rear cell-block was added in the 1840s. The document store, reached from the first-floor clerk's office, is part of the 1840s rear extension. The hooks in the ceiling are for suspending documents out of the reach of rats. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
