Scope and Content Written on the back of the mounted print: 'Shire: Fife. Place: Anstruther Wester. Building: Parish Kirk - Graveyard - Fairfoul Tombstone'. Photographer: 'F.B.' Date: 'July 1963' The Parish Church was probably rebuilt in the 18th century, preserving only the 16th century steeple from an older building. The tombstone of John Fairfoul, died 1626, survives in the churchyard. It is decorated with a roughly carved skull and bears a lengthy Latin inscription. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
