Scope and Content Stair hall, ground floor, Ardross Castle, Highland Ardross Castle was built in its present form as a Victorian Scots Baronial mansion in 1880-1 by Alexander Ross incorporating parts of an earlier house. This is the ground-floor stair hall. Carved heraldic lions perch on the staircase's principal baluster-pedestals. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
