Scope and Content Stained glass doorway, ground-floor ante-room, Ardross Castle, Highland Ardross Castle was built in its present form as a Victorian Scots Baronial mansion in 1880-1 by Alexander Ross incorporating parts of an earlier house. This is the stained glass door of the ground-floor anti-room. The two flanking panels bear the Latin inscription, 'PERENES' and 'NIHIL,' meaning 'Nothing lasts for ever'.
