Scope and Content 1930s view of gable of south wing Greyfriars Convent (Inverkeithing Museum), Queen Street, Inverkeithing, Fife Greyfriars Convent, a House of Franciscan Friars, was founded about 1350. In 1559 it was sold to John Swinton who probably converted the old guesthouse into a house for himself, and quarried stone from the other buildings. It now serves as a museum. This shows the gable of the south wing. The east part (right) - with a clearly visible blocked doorway - probably dates from the 15th century. The crow-stepped west part (left) is probably a 16th-century addition. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
