Scope and Content Stone circle and standing stones at Callanish (aerial view) The stones at Callanish form one of the most impressive prehistoric monuments in Scotland. Built on the E shore of Loch Roag they comprise of a stone circle with four radiating rows of standing stones. There is also a chambered cairn within the circle. This is an aerial view of the site. It shows the stone circle with the monolith inside it. Leading away from the circle are three single rows of stones and one double row or avenue. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
