Scope and Content Parleyhill House, Fife Parleyhill House was built in the early 18th century on Parley Hill near the abbey. The hill's name comes from the abbey's 'outer parlour' where monks could meet relatives and other outsiders. The house is decorated with stone mouldings including scrolled skew-puts at the each corner of the base of the gable. In the background is the Abbey Church. It is said locally to have 'evil eyes' because of the appearance of the two oval Flemish windows. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
