Scope and Content Fly-wheel end of beam-engine in Garlogie Mill, Garlogie, Grampian This mid 19th-century beam-engine is virtually intact and is the only Scottish example of its type still in its original position. It is a house-built rotative beam-engine of medium size, with a double-acting cylinder, separate condenser and air-pump. From far right to near left are the air-pump rod, central column, feed-pump rod, connecting rod and beam, governor, eccentric shaft and fly-wheel. The piston and cylinder are at the other end, out of sight. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
