Scope and Content Beam and parallel motion of beam-engine in Garlogie Mill, Garlogie, Grampian This mid 19th-century beam-engine is virtually intact and is the only Scottish example of its type still in its original position. It is a house-built rotative beam-engine of medium size, with a double-acting cylinder, separate condenser and air pump. This shows the beam and 'parallel motion', the two parallel rods beneath the beam. The fly-wheel is at the other end of the beam, out of sight. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
