Scope and Content Standing Stones at Carnasserie, Kilmartin, Argyll and Bute This pair of standing stones is located 450m to the south-west of Carnasserie Castle. This view shows the two standing stones at Carnassarie. Both stones are aligned on a north-south axis and are situated 135m to the north-east of a large Neolithic cairn. The Kilmartin valley area is particularly rich in standing stones and stone circles though their purpose largely remains unknown. Possibly some served as territorial or route markers.
