Scope and Content Gravestone commemorating TD and AH (west face), Bo'ness churchyard, Falkirk The inscription on this stone is now illegible, and only the initials TD and AH remain. The rhymed inscription exhorts us to consider our own mortality and sinfulness, reading 'DEATH WHEN IT COMS/IT WILL NOT STAY/THERFOR REPENT/MAKE NOT DELAY'. The anchor is indicative of someone who was a mariner, but is also a symbol of hope. The graveyards of Scotland are an important part of the cultural heritage of the country and can provide fascinating information for people interested in family or local history, as well as vernacular art.
