Description Skye, Skye Bridge. Detailed view from East of South pier on Skye shore, with constructors' landing craft approaching ramp. The bridge will be a cantilever structure, and the second smaller pier (left) will be demolished once the 2 halves of the bridge are joined, and the need for the support is gone. The 2 halves of the deck are being built at an angle taking into account the fact that they will bend as they grow larger, sinking by about 0.7m.
