Administrative History The St Andrews Preservation Trust was founded in 1937 and incorporated on 1st March 1938 "to preserve, for the benefit of the public, the amenities and historic character of the City and Royal Burgh of St Andrews and of its neighbourhood." It has since been been involved in various activities to preserve St Andrews historic character, including restoring small historic properties, consulting with the Council on the listing of buildings and road schemes, photographic surveys of buildings, talks and lectures, and exhibitions and tours. The Trust has published several titles on the character and historic environment of St Andrews.
