Scope and Content Material relating to William Henry Johnson 17/2/1877 to 30/9/1952: photographs with negatives of houses he worked on in Colinton Road, Comiston Road, and Braid Hills Road, Edinburgh, also photographs of doocots and historical buildings in Fife and the Lothians, 1930-32. Also photographs with negatives of Merchiston Castle, Edinburgh, used to illustrate an article in The Builder. Two photographs of sewage filters at Lochend, Edinburgh, 1927.

Administrative History William Henry Johnson was Born in 1877 and apprenticed as an architect with Duncan Menzies from 1894 to 1899. Following positions with City Architect Robert Morham in 1900 and Joseph Marr Johnston in 1903-4, he opened an independent practice in Edinburgh. Through this practice he carried out a number of projects independently as well as assisting other architects. In 1910, Johnson returned to Menzies' practice as a partner and the firm became Menzies, Cockburn & Johnson.
