Scope and Content The drawings collection of Gray, Marshall & Associates (1986-2019) both for new build projects and also restoration work on historic buildings including St Bernard's Well, Liberton Kirk, and Dunbar Town House.
Archive History Presented to HES by Gray, Marshall & Associates in 2019 and accessioned as Acc No 2019/58. Also, copies of drawings Lauriston Place/Heriot Place and Keir Street, lent to RCAHMS for copying as a Survey of a Private Collection, 1990.
System of Arrangement The collection has been catalogued to batch level. Material is grouped chronologically by decade and within decades, by individual project.

Administrative History Gray, Marshall & Associates, architects, Edinburgh. The practice was formed in 1986 when Alan S Marshall entered into partnership with Thomas M Gray. Jocelyn Cunliffe, then an associate, became a partner in the following year. The practice specialises in conservation work and conversion projects. Selected restoration projects include the Capercaillie Restaurant, Killin (1986), Millport Cathedral (1989), 30-40 Grassmarket, Edinburgh (1994), and Portencross Castel (2009).
