Titled: 'Scottish Home of the King and Queen. A view of Balmoral, showing part of the beautiful grounds. The original building stood adjacent ground farther from the river, and when Queen Victoria saw it for the first time she thought it "a pretty little castle". It was not very commodious, however, and the foundation stone of the present castle was laid in 1853'.
Aberdeen, Brig O' Balgownie.

Insc: 'BRIG O' BALGOWNIE-This beautiful old arch which spans the Don near Aberdeen was built in the days of Robert the Bruce. At that time Bishop Cheyne was not on friendly terms with the King, and for many years absented himself from his bishopric. When he returned Bruce commanded him to build the bridge.
Braemar, Braemar Castle.

Insc: 'Braemar Castle - famous in story and song. The present castle was built about 1720 by those who acquired the forfeited estates of the Earl of Mar, who raised his standard on the braes of Mar for the Stuarts in 1715'.
