Scope and Content A collection of photographic copies of postcards of country houses and castles in Scotland: subjects include Ardenconnell, Castle Grant, Candacraig, Chatelherault, Old Keiss Castle, Tulchan Lodge and Wester Elchies House. The collection includes a number of original postcards, including Harvieston House, Gorebridge. Also, a collection of sales particulars.

Archive History The postcards were lent by Mr Reid (per Charles Hind, NMR(E)) to RCAHMS to be copied as a Survey of a Private Collection. The collection was copied over a period of years: formal accessions have not yet been identified for all of these, but the format of cataloguing indicates that the earliest were acquired by RCAHMS in and prior to 1983. Later accessions include Acc No 2000/17 and Acc No 2000/56. The collection includes a number of original postcards donated in 1985. Mr Reid's collection of sales particulars was transferred from NMR(E) to HES and accessioned as Acc No 2018/8.
