Scope and Content A collection of copies of photographs of country houses, historic buildings, landscapes, streetscapes and monuments across Scotland, by photographers including Francis Frith, George Washington Wilson, J Valentine, Inglis, and J Patrick.
Archive History Copied by RCAHMS as a Survey of a Private Collection, by permission of Mr Gerald Cobb. No formal accession record has yet been identified, but the format of cataloguing indicates acquisition between c.1970 and c.1983.

Administrative History George Washington Wilson (1823-93) established his Aberdeen-based photographic company in 1852. After his death the firm continued under the management of his sons until wound up in 1908. Francis Frith (1822-98) established Francis Frith and Company, photographers, in 1860 in Reigate, Surrey. The firm continued in business until 1971.
