Scope and Content To the left is the construction site for the Holm Mills Bridge over the River Ness part of the new West Link road. Beside the river is the lade with a sluice at the west end which channels water from the river, this is shown on the Ist edition OS. To the right is the Caledonian canal completed in 1822 by Telford, providing a navigable waterway between Fort William and Inverness.
