Scope and Content To the right is the Bucht Sports ground running track, and in the foreground the construction site for the new southern distributor road and roundabout. The Battle of Torvean is reputed to have taken place in this area in 1187 between Donald Bane a Hebridean chief and a party from Inverness Castle. In the middle foreground is the Caledonian Canal, completed in 1822 by Telford. In the other side of the canal is Kings Golf course.
