DP 343490

Description Aerial view of near vertical aerial view of the ASDA Superstore and part of Slackbuie beyond, Inverness, looking SE.

Date 8/4/2015

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number DP 343490

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content A possible prehistoric settlement site, "Slackbuie", underlies the street named Knocknagael (largely out of shot to right of small triangular housing area at upper right edge of image). The residential streets of Laird's Avenue and Earl's Gate (developed since this image was taken) overlie a possible prehistoric industrial site. In this image site clearance for construction appears to have started, with an area of exposed earth visible at centre of upper edge of photo. In upper left corner of image, evidence of metal working is recorded from the field to left of the houses. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
