DP 343473

Description Oblique aerial view of Inshes and the A9, Inverness, looking SE.

Date 8/4/2015

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number DP 343473

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This image shows the southern approaches to Inverness. The A9 south to Perth bisects the photo. Just L of centre is Simpsons Garden Centre, in front of which an enclosure is recorded in the green fields although no definite cropmark is seen in this photo. Towards the bottom of the photo the A9 is crossed by the old A9, now the B9006 Culloden Road. At bottom L is the developing University of Highlands and Islands campus, built on the previous Beechwood Farm site. The image clearly shows the policies of Castlehill House, although details of the building are not apparent. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
