Scope and Content This wide view of south-eastern Inverness shows the river looping round at the Ness Islands on the right. Bellfield Park with its tennis courts is at bottom right and Hilton Hospital is the large white building on the bottom left. Hilton Hospital was built as the Inverness Poorhouse between 1859 and 1861. It then became Muirfield Hospital and then Hilton Hospital when it specialised in geriatrics. It closed in 1987 and was converted into housing. It's now known as Old Edinburgh Court. The large white building towards the top right of picture is Drummond School, which provides primary and secondary education for students with additional support needs.
