Scope and Content This is a very wide view of central and south Inverness with the river running across top of picture. On the far side of the river (the west bank) are, from left to right, the Bught Park, Ballifeary and Dalneigh with Kinmylies at top right. St. Andrews Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre are on the river just above centre of picture and Inverness High School is at upper right. On the near side of the river (the east bank) are the Haugh, Kingsmills and the Crown. Inverness Castle sits above the Ness Bridge at centre right, with Porterfield Prison to its left. At the bottom of the picture is Kingsmills Nursing Home, built on Kingsmills Park which was the home of Inverness Thistle Football Club, before amalgamating with Inverness Caledonian to form ICT in 1994. Walker Park is at bottom left. There are many sites of historical and archaeological interest within this area.
