Scope and Content This is a close view of Crown Primary School, Kingsmills, Inverness. This was erected in 1878-80 as Inverness High School and when the High School moved to a new site on the west side of the river in 1937, this building took over the role played by Farraline Park School and the primary department of the High School. At centre left is Crown Church, built in 1900-01 as the United Free Church, which united with the Church of Scotland in 1929. Inverness Royal Academy is coming into view at top left. The Inverness Royal Academy was founded in 1792 and operated from Academy Street till 1895 when it moved to this building at Midmills. In 1977 it moved to a new building at Culduthel and the Midmills building was taken over by Inverness College. When Inverness College relocated to the UHI Campus at Beechwood, this building and the wider site were developed to incorporate a creative hub, new affordable homes and retirement housing. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
