Scope and Content Muirton basin is in the centre with the railway swing bridge, built in 1909 replacing the earlier railway bridge. The numerous Canmore and HER refences are of the locks, canal workshops, lock keepers houses etc. Construction of the canal started in 1803. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
