Scope and Content In the foreground is Dornoch airstrip on Dornoch point, still occasionally used by light aircraft. It was established in WW2 as a landing site, and closed in 1945. It opened briefly 1967-72 for Loganair services. Only the runways remain with no evidence of war time buildings. There are possible coastal defences on the beach in the foreground, evidenced by lines of upright wooden posts. The Dornoch Firth is in the foreground, and Loch Fleet in the distance. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
