Date 3/2/2012

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Scope and Content This is a view of the western edge of Inverness, with the river running at right of picture. The Holm Mills are at centre right. Holm woollen mill was established around 1771 by James Pringle from Brora. The mill was bought by Edinburgh Wool Company in 1989 and became the Holm Mills Shopping Village. At centre top are the precast concrete plant and beside it Gray's saw mill, both of which were derelict when they were demolished as part of the development of Ness-side with the construction of the Western Link Road. With the exception of the mill, there are no sites of archaeological interest recorded in this area. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
