Scope and Content This is a general view of the western end of the Bught Park, Inverness, which was acquired by the town in 1923 and shows some of the sports facilities concentrated in this area of the city - the ice rink, the aqua dome and the Highland Rugby Club. Whin Park is on the left below the rugby pitches. It includes a boating pond, miniature railway and large play area. The Highland Archive and Registration Centre, which was opened in 2009, is on the riverside. The Ice rink is at centre right. It was built on the site of Bught House and opened in 1968. The aqua dome is above the ice rink. It was opened in 1997, replacing the Inverness Baths in Glebe Street. The Floral Hall and Nurseries are to the left of the aqua dome. They are built in the walled garden of Bught House. At top left is Tomnahurich swing bridge over the canal and on the far side of the canal there are some of the holes of Torvean Golf Course, now moved to allow the Western Link Road to join up with the A82. There is some evidence of early settlement in this area. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
