Scope and Content This view focuses on Eden Court Theatre, Inverness which was opened in 1976 and completely refurbished between 2005 and 2007. At the bottom of the picture is the Northern Meeting Park which was established in 1864 as the world's oldest highland games stadium. On its right is the Highland Council Headquarters which is housed in the Northern Counties' Collegiate School. The original school building can be seen at bottom right with the modern additions behind. The Infirmary Bridge crosses the river between the theatre and the Royal Northern Infirmary. The RNI was opened in 1804 and functioned as the main hospital for Inverness till Raigmore Hospital was built. A new community hospital was built in the grounds and the main building now functions as the head quarters of the UHI.
