Description Aerial view of Rosemarkie, Black Isle, looking N.

Date 12/6/2011

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number DP 342465

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This is a general view of Rosemarkie. There are several historic sites within the village but few can be seen clearly in this view. The Parish Church and cemetery, however, stand out. The present church was built in 1821 but stands on a site that goes back to St. Moluag in the C6. Several carved stones and cross slabs have been uncovered in the cemetery and nearby Groam House Museum has a collection of carved stones from the area. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
