DP 342354

Description Aerial view of henge-like feature on Muir of Ord Golf Course, Easter Ross, looking SW.

Date 15/2/2011

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number DP 342354

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content General view of S end of Muir of Ord, looking at Golf Course and part of Black Isle Showground with part of Muir of Ord Industrial Estate. Also visible in this picture are Muir of Ord henge, previously described as a castle and though scheduled as a Class 2 henge, there must remain some dubiety on this ascription. It could still be a moated site, perhaps the original Tarradale. The site has been partially mutilated in its use for the golf course. Visible in the distance are the settlements of Ardnagask and Teandalloch. In the foreground is Muir of Ord Sportsground and Recreation area. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
