Scope and Content This area of fields at the junction with the A96 and B9111 is the site of Auldearn battle in 1645, between the victorious Royalists led by the Marquis of Montrose, against the Covenanters led by General Sir John Murray. The battlefield was added to Historic Scotland's new inventory of Historic battlefields in 2011. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
