Scope and Content This is a close view of Inverness Royal Academy and the indoor bowling centre at the Leys Roundabout on the Southern Distributor Road (A8082), Inverness. The Inverness Royal Academy was founded in 1792 and operated from Academy Street till 1895 when it moved to Midmills. In 1977 it moved to Culduthel. The indoor bowling centre is to the left of the IRA and behind that is the Gaelic Primary School which was established in 1992 in Central Primary School and moved to this custom-built building in 2007. The area on the SE side of this road (top and right) is known as Slackbuie, from the Gaelic meaning a yellow hollow. Excavation in advance of the development uncovered a Bronze Age landscape. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
