Scope and Content This is a view of Ben Nevis, at 1345 metres the highest mountain in the British Isles. In 1883 an observatory was built on the summit and this was in use till it closed in 1904 due to lack of funding. The photo shows Ben Nevis on the right and Carn Mor Dearg on the left, with Coire Leis leading up to the Carn Mor Dearg Arete.
