Scope and Content A general view between the Sutors of Cromarty with, on the extreme lower left, parts of the WW1 and WW2 South Sutor Coastal Battery and associated features. On the opposite shore the motte and ringwork of the medieval Dunskeath castle lie on top of the cliffs on the extreme right and to their left the remains of a WW2 Battery. Within the golf course left and above the battery shell middens have been recorded and in the early 19th century two cremation urns and a jet necklace were discovered. In the centre of the picture is the small WW1 and WW2 Nigg Pier now used by the Nigg Ferry and in the complex of structures to its right are the Submarine Mine Depot and the short-lived WW1 Military Hospital centred on Dunskeath House. Above them are Nigg Dock and Marine Fabrication Yard. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
