Description Oblique aerial view of Munlochy Bay on the Black Isle, looking ESE.

Date 21/1/2009

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number DP 341647

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This view shows the outer part of Munlochy Bay with Suddie quarry (also known as Roskill Quarry) recorded on the HC HER (MHG29398)but not on Canmore, in the bottom left quadrant. The A832 traverses the view and the embankment of the, as yet, unrecorded old Fortrose railway line can be seen running parallel on the lower side of the road. An extant bridge on this section of the embankment can just be seen at the centre of the left half of the view; the former railway station at Munlochy (Canmore ID 107838), is on the record. An unrecorded ruined farmstead can just be seen on the left edge of the view, with a pier (Canmore ID 287458) on the shoreline of the bay below it. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
