Scope and Content This is a view of the Dornoch Bridge and Dornoch Firth, looking towards Bonar Bridge in the west. The Dornoch Bridge was opened by the Queen Mother in 1991 and provides a more direct route north for the A9. On the north side going west at Meikle Ferry, Newton Point and Black Wood there are farmsteads, enclosures, middens and sites associated with the ferry. On the south side of the Firth at Ardmore there are records of hut circles. Partially obscured by the plane's wing is Ness of Portnaculter with its ice house, WW2 remains, pier and ferry house.
