Scope and Content The airfield was built by the Air Ministry in 1940 as Royal Air Force station Dalcross (RAF Dalcross), and was in use during the Second World War. The airport was opened for civil operations in 1947. The present building was opened in the late 1990's. The airport runways were tarred in 1941 and lengthened in 1974. Two war time Bellman Hangars and temporary war time buildings are still in use. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
