Scope and Content This is a general view of Inverness showing the centre of the city with Merkinch, Clachnaharry, Scorguie and Muirtown. The Caledonian Canal can be seen towards the top of the photo with the Muirtown Basin and sea lock with associated Canal buildings at Clachnaharry. In the centre of the photo is the Castle and on the west side of the river is St. Andrew's Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre above which are the distinctive white buildings of Inverness High School.
