Scope and Content General view of Helmsdale Town and harbour, looking S over the bridges on the Helmsdale River down the A9. The old masonry bridge, built 1808-9 by the pioneering Highland engineer Thomas Telford, consists of two segmental arches, each of 70ft (21.3m) span, and triangular cutwaters. The "new" bridge was constructed in 1972 by Babtie, Shaw and Morton. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
