Scope and Content Loch Eye is fringed with boat related archaeological features - jetties, boathouses, etc. In medieval times, Loch Eye was considerably larger in extent, particularly to the south. It was the major component of the "Tarbert", Norse word for boat pull, i.e. across the neck of the Tarbat peninsula. The Dornoch Firth is in the distance.
