DP 340623

Description Oblique aerial view of excavation site at Portmahomack, Tarbat Ness, looking W.

Date 9/7/2006

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number DP 340623

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Towards the bottom of the photo, partially obscured by the wing, is Tarbat Old Parish Church, now (2020) Tarbat Discovery Centre. In the centre of the image is a small development of three houses being built. There is some earthworks just below centre, at the site of the excavation of a Pictish monastery. However, in July 2007 the excavation had finished. Maybe this relates to the development of the Discovery Centre. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
