Scope and Content Forres Airfield, Moray Luftwaffe aerial photograph of Forres airfield, Findhorn Bay and the Culbin Forest, taken during World War II. RAF Forres was a grass surfaced bomber training airfield during World War II. It acquired a short tarmac runway in 1960 to enable a Director of United Biscuits to travel to London in company aircraft. The German Luftwaffe took aerial photographs of parts of Scotland throughout World War II. The photographs were used for intelligence work, such as selecting targets, assessing bombing accuracy and finding equipment and defensive positions. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
