Scope and Content Chambered cairn at Taversoe Tuick, Rousay, Orkney This cairn is one of only two in Orkney of this design. The other is at Huntersquoy in Eday. They are unusual in that they are two-storeyed. There is an upper and a lower chamber. This is the lower chamber which is entirely under the ground. It has its own entrance passage leading in from ground level. The upper chamber has a separate entrance. There is a miniature 'tomb' close to the passage leading into the lower chamber. When excavated, it contained three pottery bowls which might have been used for ritual purposes. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
