Scope and Content Littleferry provided a crossing of the Dornoch Firth till the construction of the Mound in 1816 after which only local traffic used the ferry. It continued into the early C20. There are several sites associated with the ferry crossing, including a pier, a customs house, a girnal and a pilot's house and office. It is reportedly the site of a skirmish in 1746 when Caithness men on the way south to join Bonnie Prince Charlie prior to Culloden, became lost and were trapped and killed by troops of the Sutherlands. SE is at top of picture. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
