Description An oblique aerial view of Ballynacairdach, Clyne, Sutherland, looking SE.

Date 2000

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1906834

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content A close view of the northern fields of the former settlement of Ballynacairdach with dykes in the left foreground and along the right hand side. The remains of a bronze or iron age settlement are visible with two roundhouses on the moorland upper centre and left, one just above the dyke in the right foreground and inside that dyke is another in the centre of the left hand lower quadrant. A possible further roundhouses can be seen on the moorland to the right of the other two suggesting a row of three similarly distanced. Inside the dyke, below and a little left of the one just above the dyke is a faint circular hollow in the heather which might be another. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
